Armageddon 2: Harry‘s Last Stand
Monday May 24, 2021
Monday May 24, 2021
When it comes to 90s Blockbusters, they don't come much bigger - or dumber - than Michael Bay's Armageddon, a bloated disaster epic with a relationship to science and characterisation which could best be described as 'loose'.
In this week's episode, we try to find some good in this much maligned movie, while also pitching some sequels to bring this cash cow back to the big screen - with or without Bruce Willis and his distracting frosted tips...

He may have hit paydirt with his 90s classics Silence of the Lambs and Philadelphia, but Jonathan Demme's mid-80s road movie Something Wild remains one of the late director's most stylish and beloved works.
On this week's podcast, Julio from The Contrarians stops by to share his thoughts on everything from Jeff Daniel's amazing dad dancing to a credits sequence for the ages, and much more...

Parasite 2: Reunification
Monday May 03, 2021
Monday May 03, 2021
As we wind down on another faintly underwhelming Oscar season, we thought it'd be nice to look back on the clear highlight of last year's batch - surprise Best Picture winner and all-round word of mouth sensation Parasite.
On this week's podcast, we discuss not-so-subtle symbolism, the joy of seeing a plan come together, interior design goals and much more! We also break down the plot of the movie, brainstorm some drinking games, check in with our listeners and pitch some sequel ideas to bring this movie back to the big screen...

True Romance 2:Elvis Has Left The Building
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Monday Apr 19, 2021
Based on an early script by by Quentin Tarantino, but directed by popcorn maestro Tony Scott, True Romance is a genuinely wild combination of styles with an insanely stacked cast of early 90s stars - from Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette as the unfeasibly gorgeous romantic leads to hilarious supporting turns from Brad Pitt, Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and many more.
In this week's podcast we discuss Slater being technically miscast but weirdly perfect, Arquette's brutal but badass scene with James Gandolfini, Gary Oldman's craziest role ever and much more, plus drinking games, listener submissions and sequel pitches! This one's quite a ride!

Little Miss Sunshine 2: On The Road Again
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Monday Apr 05, 2021
Little Miss Sunshine was a true word-of-mouth sensation back in 2006, winning two Oscars and making a strong case for the introduction of a 'Best Performance by an Ensemble' category.
The film stars Abigail Breslin as an adorable 8-year old whose dreams of winning the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant take her on the road trip of a lifetime with her seriously dysfunctional family. These include her on-the-rocks parents Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette, intentionally mute brother Paul Dano and suicidal gay uncle Steve Carrell.
On this week's episode, we react to the movie and discuss some of our favourite moments - including Alan Arkin's effortless scene-stealing, the excellent use of character pairing and of course the Steve Carrell run...
We'll also brainstorm some drinking games, check in with our listeners for their reactions and pitch some sequel ideas to get the Hoover family back on the road!

Long before he found global fame in the MCU, Mark Ruffalo got his Hollywood break with You Can Count On Me, a bittersweet comedy-drama from writer-director Kenneth Lonergan.
Tune into this week's episode to discover our very polarised reactions to this movie, a heated debate about what constitutes a comedy and a truly bizarre story from Harry's childhood...
