The Bodyguard 2:The Shoddyguard
Monday Mar 08, 2021
Monday Mar 08, 2021
Of all the singers who branched out into acting in the 90s, few nailed the cross-promotional opportunities as successfully as Whitney Houston. Not only was The Bodyguard an enormous box office hit, it also spawned the defining song of her career in I Will Always Love You.
On this week's podcast, we react to the original film and give our thoughts on reed herrings, clunky cameos, the inexplicable appeal of Kevin Costner and much more - plus drinking games, listener submissions and, of course, sequel pitches!

Dreamgirls 2: Divas Reunited
Monday Feb 22, 2021
Monday Feb 22, 2021
Originating as a hit Broadway stage show, Dreamgirls tells the story of a popular sixties girl group who bear a striking - but entirely coincidental - resemblance to The Supremes. The film version starred Beyonce in the Diana Ross role, but it was former American Idol alumni Jennifer Hudson who stole the show, winning an Oscar in the process.
In this week's episode, we discuss our highlights - including Eddie Murphy channelling James Brown, RnB songs clearly written by middle-aged white people and a whole lot of vocal showboating.
We also brainstorm some drinking games, check in with our listeners and pitch sequel ideas to bring the movie back to the big screen. Because after all - you can't keep a good diva down!

Monday Feb 15, 2021
Monday Feb 15, 2021
A surprise smash hit in 1996, The First Wives Club proved the pulling power of three brilliantly funny women of a certain age. Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton star as a trio of recently jilted spouses who reunite and vow vengeance on their former husbands.
On this week's episode we break it all down - including Bette Midler's unflattering knitwear, Goldie Hawn's impressive lip work and of course, that song... We also brainstorm some drinking games, check in with our listeners for their reactions and, of course, pitch some sequel ideas!

Monday Feb 01, 2021
