An outrageously camp Australian comedy shot on a minimal budget, TAO Priscilla, Queen of The Desert was an unlikely box office hit back in 1994, even picking up an Academy Award for Costume Design. It also made stars of Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce, while Terrence Howard's turn as world-weary transgendered woman and reluctant drag queen Bernadette must go down as one of the most unlikely comeback performances in Hollywood history.
In this week's podcast, we discuss camp classics, lip sync extravaganzas and some... unfortunate racial stereotyping before pitching some sequel ideas that imagine how Bernadette, Felicia and Mitzi Del Bra might have fared in the modern LGBTQ+ culture. Hold onto your wigs!
